Becoming a Kirkovchanin – Long-form Documentary Photography, Bulgaria

1 / 18

I began photographing in Kirkovo through personal circumstance, returning again and again to a small town in southern Bulgaria near the borders with Greece and Turkey. What first felt unfamiliar gradually became part of my life.

The photographs in this series emerge from a mixed and situational approach to documentary work, shaped by time spent within the everyday fabric of Kirkovo. The work extends beyond people alone, encompassing the full range of elements that define daily life - food, landscapes, weather, animals, domestic spaces, streets, vehicles, and the quiet routines that bind them together. These details are not treated as background, but as essential parts of what it means to belong to a place.
